ROTTERDAM
Rotterdam is a young, vibrant and innovative city, with a rich creative climate and premier electronic music lineage. Acting as a magnet for talents from the art, design and music industries, the city’s unique conditions have enabled exciting initiatives to flourish here, fostering a cultural milieu unlike any other in Holland.

CREATIVE
In the last five years Rotterdam has never been more fertile. Where other cities have become saturated with creative activity, young projects have sprung up and blossomed here, encouraged by the city’s receptiveness to new ideas. The time is ripe to create a central hub of expertise and activity: baan 74.

BAAN 74
Baan 74 is an iconic building in the creative heart of Rotterdam. Well connected and within walking distance of the city’s renowned Witte de Withstraat.

THE BASEMENT HALL
Located in the basement, this will be the public heart of the building where regular small-scale events will be held. The capacity of the hall should be a maximum of 250 visitors, and will provide a stage for performances, DJs, open mic, synth meetings, demos, showcases, label presentations, live podcasts, interviews, lectures, streaming concerts, CD presentations, etc. Several activities will take place in this hall a week, attracting about 30,000 visitors each year (about 550 visitors per week).

BASEMENT LABS
Next to the hall several labs form the core of the building where musicians, artists and designers will be invited to create new projects, which will be presented to the public in the adjacent room. A residency program will be set up here, producing several unique audiovisual productions per year. Musicians, artists, programmers and engineers will also be invited to research new creative hardware and software. This will also be the site for workshops and demos.

WORK SPACES
The top three levels of the building will be work spaces, where musicians, designers, audiovisual artists, technicians, software developers and labels will take up residence. They will, where possible, also contribute to the identity of the building and programming.

…not just a floor
The former building of the Keuringsdienst van Waren lends itself perfectly for any creative interpretation. A totally stripped space or a labyrinth of units. For the unrented spaces we have left the units format intact and applied pricing accordingly, but any interpretation is possible provided that requires no major structural modifications are required. Let us know your demands and we’ll make it happen. See appendix for pricing and rental terms.
